Elian Stefa (1985) is a Tirana based Albanian-Canadian curator, researcher and architect. His work centers around unconventional lightweight interventions, revitalization of the abandoned, autoconstruction, and open source technological innovation.
Recently he has been one of the main contributors to the foundation of the design department at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Studies at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, while continuing his curatorial practice and his work on the Concrete Mushrooms initiative with the publication of the project’s book. In 2012 he has also represented Albania at the 13th Architecture Biennale while co-curating ‘Adhocracy’ at the 1st Istanbul Design Biennial which consequently travelled to the New Museum of Contemporary Art in NYC for the spring of 2013.
Past collaborations include the EXD Lisbon Biennale, La Triennale di Milano, Stazione Futuro at the Officine Grandi Riparazioni of Torino, the Helsinki Museum of Cultures, Strelka Institute, and the Harvard GSD. His published works have been featured on Domus Magazine and Abitare.
